Hill Country Harp Ensemble Performance

This past Sunday I had the pleasure of performing a concert at St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church in Boerne Texas.

We played various genres of music from many different century's. The delightful program was followed by a small reception out in the courtyard.

My favorite selection we played this concert was, O' Carolan's Concerto arranged by Leone Paulson and written by T. OCarolan ( 1670-1738) I especially loved the peppy upbeatness of the composition, it was so satisfactory to play!
(Left to Right ) Hannah DeLadurantey ( myself), Evvie Marshall, and Laverne Peterson.

Evvie Marshall is a harp student of mine, it was great to see the wonderful progress she has made in the past years. What a joy it is to be able to play with ones own student!

Laverne Peterson is one of the founding harpists for the South West region of the United States.
I am so grateful to have gotten to know her these past few years, she has so much harp wisdom to pass on!

Finally, and update on the Boerne Texas concert!

Tuning and warming up with San Antonio violinist, Esther DeLadurantey, before the audience arrived!

More tuning before my concert at First United Methodist Church. There's a joke that goes

" A harpist spends half her time tuning and the other half, playing out of tune!"

Well, I didn't want the second part of that joke being true at my concert, so I decided I had better make sure I tuned my harp quite a bit before the performance time arrived:-)

Violinist, Esther DeLadurantey ( my sister) joined me on Ships are Sailing which is an old Irish tune, that was followed by another violin and harp duet, Oyfn Pripetchock ( a Jewish composition)

Post concert refreshments and Meet the Artist reception followed my concert in Boerne Texas.
I had a fabulous time meeting all of my audience, it was one of the most wonderful ways I've had to occupy my weekend!

The Children's Magnet

Ever want to get the attention of little ones?!? Just put a harp in the room and it will be sure to catch their eyes, ears, and hands! Whenever I play music somewhere I am sure to attract all the little ones, its great and I LOVE it!

Enjoy these pictures as much as I did!

So many hungry ears to hear of how the harp works!

Oh yay! We have another male harpist in the making, we are in dire need of those!

Look at all those hands yearning to get a try at plucking the strings of the harp.....so sweet!

Trinity University Concert in San Antonio Texas

Thrilling feelings of "wonder" inspire you when you hear an orchestra morph together into one melodious, glorious sound!

I just absolutely love being in the middle of an orchestra, straining to listen to every note, and instrument that is evolving the black dotes on a page into a true Masterpiece. It swells feelings of utter bliss and awe to God in your heart!

(Above)Esther and I take a quick snapshot of us together before the concert starts.

This past Monday, Esther and I performed a concert with the Trinity University Orchestra.
Our concert program consisted the distinguished compositions of: Wagner, Ravel, Offenbach, and Borodin.
Every song was tastefully chosen, though I think my top ranking favorite was the Borodin symphony..... and the Offenbach since I was able to show off a little with a solo harp cadenza.
Oh, and on the Ravel I was able to play some gorgeous glisses so that one was really a favorite too. It's too hard to choose one overall favorite, I liked them all so well!
